Please read these questions to clarify any doubt you may have.
How long does the tour take?
All our tours are 8-hour tours. They start at 9am and finish at 5pm. We only do full-day tours, we don’t do half-day tours.
What is the program for the day?
We will pick you up and go to a vineyard to explain everything you always wanted to know about Rioja wines. You will enjoy 3 tastings at 3 different wineries (number of wineries visited can vary depending on the type of tour you choose). Then we will have lunch, afterwards we will visit a place of interest. You will be dropped off at your accommodation at 5-5:30pm.
Will you pick us up from our accommodation?
We pick up from hotels and appartments located in Logroño, Laguardia, Villabuena, Elciego, Haro and Briñas.
For other locations within Rioja, please ask.
We are staying in San Sebastian or Bilbao. Can you provide pick up from there?
Where is lunch offered? Can you cater for special needs?
For groups of 2 up to 6 people we offer a traditional home-made picnic lunch at our private cellar, a Riojan calado, which is a natural cave excavated out of bedrock underneath a 12th-century castle.
A calado is an ancient wine cellar where wine was made and stored. Nowadays (if you are lucky to have one;) this is where Riojan families party and celebrate their events, so it’s used as an entertainment room. Temperature is always constant between 11º-13º throughout the year.
For larger parties and out of season tours, we go to a restaurant that is a good representation of the local cuisine.
Yes, we can cater for special needs. Please advise of any special dietary requirements.
A 50% deposit via credit card is required to secure the tour, and the remaining 50% can be paid either in cash or by credit card the day of the tour.
Once you confirm you wish to book the tour, we will send you a safe link where you can pay the 50% deposit and secure the tour.
Please note you can only use VISA or Master Card (unfortunately Amex is not accepted).
Can we buy at wineries? Do they ship internationally?
Yes, you can buy at all wineries we visit. Buying directly from the winery guarantees the lowest price and the best storage conditions. Most wineries ship internationally. Kindly ask us at the beginning of the tour and we will inform you of the door-to-door shipping rates.
Are wineries open every day?
Most wineries are open Mon-Sat.
A tour on a Sunday is also possible as there are some wineries also open on Sundays.
What type of vehicle will we be using?
We use a 7-seater people carrier for the small groups of 4 people and a brand new 9-seater minibus for the tours of 6 people.
For private tours of 2 people, we use a 5-seater vehicle.
