FAQs Rioja Wine Tour

These are the most frequently asked questions when you take a Rioja wine tour.

Please read them to clarify any doubt you may have.

What is the program for the day?

We will pick you up and go to a vineyard to explain everything you always wanted to know about Rioja wines. You will enjoy 3 tastings at 3 different wineries (number of wineries visited can vary depending on the type of tour you choose). Then we will have lunch, afterwards we will visit a place of interest. You will be dropped off at your accommodation at 6-6:30pm.

How long does the tour take?

All our tours are 9-hour tours. They start at 9am and finish at 6-6:30pm. We only do full-day tours, we don’t do half-day tours.

Will you pick us up from our accommodation?

We pick up from hotels and appartments located in Logroño, Laguardia, Villabuena, Elciego, Briones, Haro and Briñas.
For other locations within Rioja, please ask.

We are staying in San Sebastian or Bilbao. Can you provide pick up from there?

Yes, we can arrange Rioja wine tours from San Sebastian and Rioja wine tours from Bilbao at an additional cost all year round. You will be picked up at 8am and dropped off at 8pm from any hotel and Airbnb apartment in Bilbao and San Sebastian. We can arrange round-trip and single-trip transfers.

Where is lunch offered?

We offer a freshly made farm-to-table lunch at our private entertaining room, which is excavated out of bedrock. Built with thick walls, temperature is always constant between 11º-13ºC (52-55ºF) throughout the year so it’s perfect for spring, summer and fall.
This is where Riojan families party and celebrate their events, so it’s used as an entertainment room. It is located upon a hill, underneath a 12th-century castle in San Vicente de La Sonsierra.
Beautifully decorated with antiques, it has central heating and is equipped with a kitchen and a complete bathroom. For larger parties, we go to a good quality restaurant (where locals hang out) that is a good representation of the local cuisine.

Can you cater for special needs?

Yes, special dietary requirements can be accommodated. Just let us know what your needs are when you make your request and we’ll double-check at booking.

Payment

A 100% payment via credit card is required to secure the tour.
Please note you can only use VISA or Master Card (unfortunately Amex is not accepted).

Can we buy at wineries? Do they ship internationally?

Yes, you can buy at all the wineries we visit. Buying directly from the winery guarantees the lowest price and the best storage conditions. Most wineries ship internationally. Kindly ask us at the beginning of the tour and we will inform you of the door-to-door shipping rates.

Are wineries open every day?

Most wineries are open Mon-Sat and Sunday is generally their day off. A few are open on Sundays and closed on Mondays though.
Most of our tours are available on a Sunday and some aren’t. We will always advise you on the options available.

What type of vehicle will we be using?

We use a 9-seater van than can comfortably seat up to 8 people.
For larger groups we hire a minibus.
