You can tell she is very thoughtful when planning your tour, and she cares about showing you the true culture of Rioja.Posted on Rhonda HalarewichTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had an amazing experience with Rioja Wine Trips! We did the Unusual Suspects tour, guided by Inma, and discovered three incredible winemakers who are truly rewriting the rules—plus their fabulous wines. The tour felt personal and thoughtfully curated, with insider stories and moments you won’t find on a typical tour. Inma’s passion for Rioja, deep knowledge, and genuine connections with the winemakers made the experience extra special. We learned so much and had so much fun along the way. Highly recommend for anyone wanting an authentic, insider Rioja experience!Posted on Jon ATrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was the best wine tour we’ve been on, and our tour guide, Inmaculada (aka. “Inma”), was exceptionally good. She has a master’s degree in wine studies; her passion and knowledge show in her explanations of the wine, the Rioja region, and the vineyards. If you are interested in going deeper than the surface about wine and getting an authentic Spanish wine experience, then this is the tour for you. Inma picked us up in Logrono, where we were staying. We went to three wineries Valserrano, Puelles, and Gómez Cruzado: all family-owned wineries. In each winery we tried five different wines, including crianza, reserva, gran reserve, white varieties of Rioja, and some special wines. They were all very different and all good; we found some exception as well, which varies by pallet. There was no pressure to buy any wine, and in most places, we were greeted by the owners themselves. They took the time to explain the wines and tell us about the history of the winery and their families. It was very special. We also had stops along the road to see the vineyards, taste the grapes, and learn about the types of vines (bush versus trellis), soil, the struggling vine theory and different parts of the Rioja region. The tour was very relaxed while academic. The “cherry” on top came at the end of the tour when Inma took us to the medieval hill-top town of San Vicente for an authentic Spanish lunch at a traditional Spanish house. We had tortilla, different cuts of preserved meats, olives, bread, and of course Rioja wine. After lunch we walked up the hill to see the old church and the medieval castle. While many tours claim to be educational, Inma’s is truly academic – a strong “must see” recommendation from us! 😊 -Darin & JonPosted on Jared ChamberlinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have been on several wine tours, including wine tours through Spain and Rioja, and this was by far the best. Inma was incredibly attentive to us, getting input before the tour as to the types of wines and tours we like, along with dietary preferences. We did the "Unusual Suspects" tour, which was fantastic and I highly recommend. We got to try some top class wines from small production vineyards, meeting the owners/producers at all of them! Overall there isn't a single thing that could be improved - if we end up back in Rioja (which I'm sure we will), we will be sure to reach out to Inma again!Posted on Liza OttaniTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We can't recommend Mel and Rioja Wine Trips enough! We were new to Rioja wines and our day with Mel was both informative, fun and filled with special surprises. From basic education, to tastings, to an amazing lunch to top of our day, it was all fabulous. The highlights were sampling wines we would never have found on our own and meeting with wine makers whose table we would not have be invited to share a seat. We shipped a number of bottles home and are still toasting our day with Mel months later.Posted on Jeff LackmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 4 Years in a row and very much still a wonderful day exploring small bodegas in Rioja. Worth every cent to spend time with an incredibly knowledgeable guide (Inma) visiting 4 amazing wine makers who make wines of great passion and the highest quality. Very highly recommended as a way to learn more of wine and northern Spain's culture. Also an amazingly scenic trip. Rioja is so beautiful you really must partake of one of this tours!! Three years in a row with Inma! Once again I visited three small wineries and met with passionate winemakers. I keep coming back to this guide because I keep learning more and meeting new people! We ended the day have menu del dia at a local restaurant in Haro, Excellent! These tours don't feel like tour, they feel like meeting long lost friends. I simply cannot recommend Inma and Rioja Wine Tours enough, best of the best! This is the 2nd year in a row I have toured with Inma in Rioja, and this trip was even better than last year! You know it will be a great day when it starts with a double rainbow (last year also had a rainbow!)!! The tour is, simply, great visits with passionate, inspiring winemakers that you will not and cannot see using large bus tours where you tour with many people. Getting to meet Alberto and Luis, and visiting with Miguel again was an absolute pleasure for me. I could spend so much time hearing their stories and learning how they are making the best wine in Rioja, how their knowledge and quest to make the best had brought them to make these wines which absolutely soar! Inma know the region, knows the wines, and is great at imparting her extensive knowledge and insight to the tour group. She also points out how the areas long history reflects in the wine and how the people of this beautiful corner of Spain expand their gastronomic culture to include the best wines the world can offer with stunning food from this region (you need to try the tomatoes, really!) I plan to return to Logrono next year, and will again use Inma as my guide. There are not words enough to express my joy I experienced on this tour. A must do tour!Posted on Pat PhillipsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Best Wine Guides Ever We have been wine geeks for the last 30 years, traveling wine country across Europe, USA, South Africa and Argentina. And we have had some wonderful guides. But little did we know what a superb wine guide looked like. Yet from the first hour with Inma and Mel in Rioja, we learned what spectacular really meant—guides that defined the term: -fun personalities that make each moment enjoyable. -expert knowledge of wine, particularly of the wines of Rioja. -deep personal connections with winery owners, winemakers, vineyard managers and leaders of the business. And not just any wineries, but ones that make terrific wines. -guides who asked what you wanted to see and taste, how you wanted to allocate your time and how active an experience you wanted—and then tailored your tastings and visits to those specs. -knowledge of how to incorporate food and wine into the learning process. Inma and Mel are terrific. We could not recommend them more highly!Posted on Wes HarperTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Inma led an incredible tour. We did the Unusual Suspects and the wineries we visited were amazing! Inma is so knowledgeable and friendly as well. A must do if you’re looking to experience something special in Rioja.Posted on Parry RickersTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We spent a day with Mel during our trip to Spain in Sept and it was incredible! This tour was the absolute highlight of our trip. Mel was both incredibly knowledgeable and educational, but still fun and personable. He showed us a great mix of spots and sights, and the local lunch was fantastic. You can tell he is passionate about what he does and truly cares about creating a memorable experience for his guest. Cannot recommend it enough!Posted on Steve FinchTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our experience with Rioja Wine Tours was nothing short of Amazing. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and tailored to give us the best possible experience in the Rioja wine region. Inma and Mel clearly have a deep passion for Riojas, wine, food, culture and history, and they are they did a wonderful job of sharing this with our group. Additionally, it was obvious that they have very strong relationships with the local winemakers. This made for custom and intimate tastings with some of the region's best. We visited smaller wineries and truly relished the opportunity to have discussions with the people that work all spectrums of wine making. We had many questions about everything from farming to marketing, and it was refreshing to get the answers from the people that do it all. The attention to detail really stood out – comfortable transportation, beautiful scenery along the way, and delicious lunches paired perfectly with the wines. We had a large group of ten “serious” wine experts. At least we thought we knew a lot. Apparently, we didn’t have that vast knowledge because three days with Mel and Inma taught us way more that we could have ever asked for. This Rioja Wine Tours was clearly the highlight of our trip. If you are anywhere near this beautiful region of the world, make sure to book a tour with Inma. Whether you are a serious wine lover or just want to soak up the beauty and flavor of Rioja, this is the experience you absolutely should not miss. Signed, Steve and friends for Hermosa Beach California.
